■ Frank L. Blum Construction Co. has announced the promotions of Bill Ball to chief financial officer and Mike Lancaster to senior project manager. Ball was previously the controller of Blum Construction. He has been a vice president of operations for the mid-Atlantic region of Arc One LLC and vice president of mergers and acquisitions for Pleasants Hardware Co. Lancaster was a project manager for Blum Construction, supervising projects including the construction of the YWCA at the Gateway and the new Flow Lexus dealerships in Winston-Salem and Greensboro. He is currently managing the construction of four new buildings at the Summit School.

■ Northstar Travel Media, a business-to-business publishing company for the travel and hospitality industry, has added the following people to its office in Winston-Salem. David Verga has been named assistant editor for Professional Travel Guide, a newly formed division of Northstar. He recently graduated from UNC Asheville and had worked as an intern at Northstar in summer 2007. Corina Fradin has joined the company as sales manager for the Electronic Products Group. She was a recruiter for TRC Staffing. Julia Hurrelbrink is a summer intern. She recently graduated from Wake Forest University and plans to attend UNC Greensboro in the fall.

■ GMAC Commercial Finance's Commercial Services Division has made the following promotions. Micah Wolfington has been promoted to vice president, credit analyst, from assistant vice president, credit analyst. Megan Kreutzer has been promoted to vice president, client service manager, from vice president, client service team leader. Andrew Conforte has been promoted to assistant vice president, client service associate, after spending time in IT as the end-user computing-team leader.

■ Dr. Elizabeth F. Sherertz, a dermatologist with a sub-specialty interest in contact dermatitis, has joined Winston-Salem Dermatology & Surgery Center. She completed her residency in dermatology at Duke University, and is a graduate of Wake Forest University. She previously held faculty positions at the University of Florida and the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She has been in private practice in Winston-Salem since 2001.

■ Larry Steven Moore has joined Cavanaugh & Associates P.A., a civil and environmental engineering company, as a branch manager of the company's Winston-Salem office. Before joining Cavanaugh, Moore was the director of land development for Centex Homes in Charlotte. He has 20 years experience in land development, construction, and project administration. He manages site development, water and wastewater design, and utility service projects and works with the senior management team in business development.

■ Holly Francis has been named vice president of strategic communications for McNeill Communications Group Inc. in High Point. She is responsible for overseeing client-image development and positioning, strategic planning and goal-setting services and education training services. She has nearly 20 years communications experience, both agency and corporate. Most recently, Francis was the director of internal communication for Internet Consulting Firm marchFIRST, formerly Whittman-Hart, in Chicago.

■ These people are new account executives for WSJS Radio and WMFR Radio: David Dohner has more than eight years of sales experience; Dana Brown graduated from High Point University with a degree in business administration; Elisa Mangum has more than 10 years of sales experience.

■ Tengion Inc., a clinical stage biotechnology company focused on the development of neo-organs and neo-tissues, has appointed Mark Stejbach as vice president of marketing and commercial planning. He has more than 20 years of marketing, sales, finance, and managed-care experience from Merck & Co. Inc. and Biogen Inc.

■ The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina has hired Mark Bachman as its new senior vice president and chief operating officer. His responsibilities include coordinating day-to-day operations for the association's 12 branches, overseeing membership and program initiatives, and developing and administering plans for growth. He has 28 years of experience serving YMCAs in Maryland, Tennessee and Charlotte. Bachman's most recently was the community vice president and executive director for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte association.

■ Annese Public Relations Inc. has promoted Pam Cook-Longworth to the position of vice president. She had been the director of client services since joining the company in 2006. She has more than 17 years of experience in media, primarily in television news, including serving as news director of ABC45 and UPN48. As the company's vice president, Cook-Longworth will focus on nurturing relationships with a diverse client base, including financial institutions, construction companies, home decor manufacturers and nonprofit organizations.

■ Dr. Kathi Kemper, a pediatrician at Brenner Children's Hospital, has been named the founder and first chairwoman of the section for complementary and integrative medicine of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The section's mission includes educating clinicians about complementary and integrative medicine and promoting policies that support safe and effective therapies for children. She is the author of The Holistic Pediatrician.

■ Guy R. Groff has been named the director of the Career Management Center at Wake Forest University's Babcock Graduate School of Management. He was most recently the director of the Graduate Career Management Center at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. He has more than 20 years of leadership and has spent the past 10 years in MBA education-career management. He established and continuously enhanced a comprehensive career development program for full-time and working professional students at Arizona State University. He is a former Marine and director of worldwide career counseling services for the U.S. Marine Corps.
