For the last 16 seasons Dell has covered Winston-Salem State athletics and it's about time for a blog. He will try to hit on issues involving the major sports at WSSU such as football, basketball and spring football. But there are more sports to talk about as well, such as the CIAA champion baseball team.
There will also be blogs about the CIAA, especially when the popular CIAA basketball tournament rolls around. Any suggestions or story ideas, just let him know at jdell@wsjournal.com.
Dell is a five-time winner of the CIAA sportswriter of the year award as well as a two-time winner of the North Carolina sportswriter of the year award given by the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters of America.
In his spare time he coaches his two children, ages 8 and 6, in everything from soccer to basketball to golf, while his wife, Laura, does most of the driving to and from the children's sporting events. Dell, who was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, also finds time to root hard for the Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks.
